Question: What is continuous open bidding?! (NPH Practice)

Answer: C.OB or Continuous Open Bidding is a when an organization accepts applications in a non-formal way. Contrary to RUSH Week, where their are a set order of events and times with a particular set of instructions. C.O.B is a time where any interested person can apply for membership. It is a non-formal way for all interested to have a very relaxed look at the organization. Hence, notifications such as:

Last Fact!! Another RL Greek Question We Got!

Question: What is a "pearl"?

Answer: Traditionally, a pearl is one of the first members of a greek organization. Typically, a pearl can be a one of the principle founders or brought on a little later BEFORE the first official "Rush". Pearls help develop the basics of an organization.

Follow-Up: Are pearls and founders equal?

Answer: Absolutely! In REAL greekdom, a pearl IS a founder. Though they may not be awarded credit as a "Principle Foundress", they have all rights and responsibilities to the organization BECAUSE they have helped lay the stones of the foundation. Pearls are treated with as much respect as a "principle" founder and their is no differential terms used. Pearls and Founders are one in the same. To insult a pearl is to insult the very fundamental principles of your sorority.

Here is a follow up example: Mary Lou is awarded the principle founder of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. BUT altogether their are 7 pearls! Hence the term Mary Lou and the crew!
